My son is getting married next fall. The couple is taking a long time to plan the wedding because they want a special day and also to allow my son to finish his master’s degree. His future wife has picked out and ordered her wedding dress as well as the dresses for the bridesmaids. She is very concerned about what her mother will wear. Her mother is extremely overweight and wears plus sized clothing. My future daughter-in-law is not sure where to find plus size mother of the bride dresses. She asked me if I could help her.

I mentioned to one of my friends at work that we were going to be looking for plus size mother of the bride dresses. She told me that she had seen a store specializing in clothes for large women, at a strip mall in the neighboring suburb. She could not remember the name of the store, but she was going to be in that neighborhood, so she offered to get the name and address so that I could call and inquire if they carried plus size mother of the bride dresses.

Two days later my friend gave me the name of the store and the address. She said that she had noticed in the window of the store when she walked past, that they had formal clothing that she thought would be appropriate for a wedding. The store handles only large sizes so she felt that there would be a good chance that we would have plus size mother of the bride dresses to choose from.

I called my future daughter-in-law with the store information. She said that she and her mother would be looking for a dress that weekend, and she asked if I would want to join them. I have met the mother twice, but have not spent a great deal of time with her, so I thought this would be a good opportunity. We met at the strip mall where the large size shop was located. The mother stated as we were walking into the store that she doubted she could find anything that would look nice. She stated that so many of the fashions in her size were out of date. When we walked in the store a sales clerk asked if we needed help. The mother stated that she wanted to try on plus size mother of the bride dresses. The clerk assured her that they had several to choose from, and that any dress that they did not have in her size could be special ordered. There were several styles to look at and she tried on several plus size mother of the bride dresses. She was very excited that she had a selection to choose from.
